From “one and done” initiatives like our Vaccine Hesitancy ad below with very targeted goals to long-term programs such as STARS, created to be a sustainable community resource.
We’re here to help get them across the finish line. Because we know every good work makes a tremendous impact.

Sisters Transportation and Ride Share or STARS launched March 1, 2020 to provide all Sisters Country residents with free transportation in Sisters, Bend and Redmond for non-emergency medical appointments: physicians, dental, vision, physical therapy, hearing, lab work and testing.
AFSC was formed as a 501c3 organization designed to help initiatives such as Sisters Transportation and Ride Share (STARS) get off the ground. In November 2019, STARS became AFSC’s first Action Team and in July 2024 STARS became an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization.

In early 2021 a small group of Sisters residents devised a strategy to encourage others in Sisters to consider Covid vaccinations resulting in a full page ad in The Nugget newspaper.
This group arranged to photograph fellow residents who supported vaccination and obtained donations to pay for the ad. However, they lacked the non-profit status to accept donations. AFSC worked with the group to facilitate receipt of donations and produced the ad in a short timeframe.
